Krakow

Start your European trip in Poland’s former capital Krakow. Enchanting, mythical and medieval, begin your exploration in Europe’s largest city square, Rynek Glowny, wandering the cobbled streets of Krakow’s Old Town. The square is lined with gorgeous old buildings, sculptures, and food carts where you can pick up some delicious “Polish pretzels”.  Take at least a few hours to explore the city by foot, discovering the city’s gems. From medieval architecture, to WWII memorials and remnants of the Krakow Ghetto Walls, as well as ancient Pagan artifacts, modern museums, restaurants, and pubs, taking a walk through Krakow is like taking a walk through time. Don’t forget, this is a trip with your friends, so when the sun sets, return to the Old Town, which is renowned for its concentration of pubs and bars!

Warsaw

Poland’s ever-evolving modern capital has taken the stage as one of Europe’s hottest capitals. With a great nightlife scene and a growing artistic community, set against the backdrop of historic architecture, Warsaw made a beautiful comeback from Communism. Known as “Mini Berlin,” Warsaw is a great competitor of its western counterpart. Its turbulent past is evident as you explore the city and should not be ignored. Visit historic sites, museums, and monuments to gain an understanding of how truly remarkable this modern city is. Then party all night in one of its numerous clubs or bars – Warsaw is a beautiful balance of old and new, and it is the perfect destination for friends on a European trip. Don’t forget to look up what events are going on before you go – thanks to Warsaw’s student population, there is always a great festival or event somewhere in the city.

Wroclaw

Pronounced “Vrohts-wahf”, Wroclaw is a less touristy option for an authentic experience. Thanks to historically shifting borders, Wroclaw’s eclectic architecture boasts German and Bohemian influences. Poland’s fourth largest city, Wroclaw has more of a small town feel than the other big names. Explore medieval architecture, stroll along the river and criss-cross the numerous bridges. This is the way to truly get to know Wroclaw’s unique charm. Its large student community, as well as a thriving artistic and cultural community, gives it a great nightlife scene too!

Zakopane

Get out of the city and experience some of Poland’s most beautiful nature. Zakopane is great for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. It’s the perfect destination for those who love the outdoors. Admire the breathtaking scenery, challenge yourselves with trails of varying difficulty, and get to know the majesty of the Tatra Mountains. While you’re in town, make sure to check out the massive 19th and 20th century wooden villas. At the end of a day’s hiking or winter sports, reward yourselves with a drink in one of the local pubs.

Gdansk

Situated on the banks of the Baltic Sea, Gdnask is a beautiful coastal addition to your European trip. Centuries of maritime history lend Gdansk a culture unique from the rest of the country. The city’s architecture differs from the rest of the country, as it was influenced by the wealthy international merchants that settled here. Visitors wander the cobbled streets, admiring the eclectic architecture and the numerous excellent museums. You and your friends will enjoy the maritime tourism here, with boat rides, water sports, and more!
