Blue and white roof tops, glistening crystal water, white sandy beaches and peaceful tranquility – welcome to Greece!

Greece is a dream. I visited Greece several times and I am still awe struck by its breathtaking natural beauty. I plan my trip and go once a year; I sit on a terrace covered with pink bougainvillea overlooking the sea, I drink ouzo and snack on olives and feta cheese. So obviously I think Greece should be high on your bucket list, and summer is coming!  Check out my favorite Greek islands and start planning your Greece getaway.

Crete – The largest of the Greek islands, Crete is one of the most popular destinations in the country. Despite its popularity, Crete manages to retain some of its authentic old-world Greek charm. Crete possess all of the characteristics that makes Greece special: ancient sites, idyllic beaches, delicious food, charming villages, and warm locals. Make sure you won’t miss out on any of these great points by utilizing our trip itinerary planner.
Like a local tip – Don’t leave Crete without trying the Cretan food! Try Dakos, which is a dish of rusks, fresh tomatoes and delicious local cheese drenched in olive oil, or Kaltsounia which is a yummy Greek cheese pie.

Santorini – Santorini is perched on the edge of a submerged volcano, overlooking a stunning caldera. It is a dream island that is the epitome of your Greece fantasies – white houses, blue roofs and windmills. There is one thing you should know about Santorini – you don’t choose your hotel based on how fancy it is, you choose it according to which one has the best sunset view. Santorini sunsets are the most stunning you’ll ever see and will take your breath away.
Like a local tip – Make sure to visit Oia, it is almost overwhelmingly beautiful and picturesque. On your way down the hill towards the beach, you will see the village’s most charming feature – wooden blue doors that open up to cliff edges, stairs, and stunning views. At the bottom of these stairs you will find the port and a few taverns that serve fresh seafood, right on the waterfront.

Paros – Traditional villages, white washed houses and sandy golden beaches, Paros looks like a postcard from Greece. Paros has little hidden bays and pretty taverns covered with pink Buganvilia. You will feel like a true local, walking around the narrow streets, sipping the delicious local wine.
Like a local tip – Visit the Old Port of Naoussa‬ for an authentic local experience. This little fisherman’s village offers the freshest seafood and a waterfront view.

Mykonos – Mykonos is the most glamourous kid on the Cyclades Isle block. The island will make you feel more like you’ve just landed at St. Tropez, while you are surrounded by fabulous fashion and gourmet cuisine. Underneath the glitz and glam, though, Greece still emerges. White washed houses, windmills and the calm of the Aegean Sea – Mykonos is the ultimate summer resort, as exquisite as it is peaceful.
Like a local tip – Get lost on Matoyianni Street. This maze like, whitewashed area is a shopping paradise and also is so incredibly pretty that you will stop for a photo at every turn.

Zakynthos – You may know Zakynthos from every “best beaches in the world” search you ever conducted. That one famous image that pops up is of a glorious white beach with crystal blue water. Zakynthos is the third largest of the Ionian Islands, located off the west coast of Greece and is home to Navagio “Shipwreck” Beach, one of the world’s most breathtaking beaches.
Like a local tip – Take a boat ride to visit Navagio Beach and the blue caves. The boat ride to the beach passes some truly spectacular rural nature and stops a few meters from the beach, where you will be overwhelmed by the surreal florescent blue water.

Corfu – This lush green island is quite cosmopolitan, with its chic boutiques, coffee shops and European vibe. Corfu is modern but also stays true to its Greek roots, with olive trees everywhere, and a romantic Old Town. The island is a little different from its neighbors: sophisticated and old-world, yet still warm and welcoming.
Like a local tip– Eat some pie! Every September 1st you can join the Pie Festival in Loustri where the town local chefs will create huge layered filo pastries, competing to make the best pie of the festival. Add some local wine, music and dancing – and you get a delicious and happy local experience.
